
Every finisher in the Marathon, Half Marathon & 10k can be in the draw to win a trip to the New Caledonia Marathon in Noumea. All you have to do is is enter, finish, and then be at the prize giving and drop your race number in a box as you walk into the prize giving venue.
This great prize is courtesy of New Caledonia Tourism, Aircalin, Chateau Royal Hotel and the New Caledonia Marathon. The prize incude: Return flights Auckland-Noumea for one person, airport hotel transfers, three night accommodation in a double room in a 4-star hotel, breakfast daily for one and free entry to the marathon. This year we have a special prize for the best fancy dress. But be warned; the standard is already pretty high. We regularly see heart racers, ambulances, bananas, pigs, chickens, dogs, Elvis and more. In 2017 we even had a Guinness World Record for the fastest marathon dressed as an aeroplane!
All you have to do is enter & then on race day make yourself seen at the start line... Go on. You know you want to!

The first Wellington male to finish our Full Marathon will win a trip to Japan's Senshu Marathon. This prize has been created by the sister city associations of Wellington and Sakai, and in February's Senshu Marathon the first Sakai man wins a trip to the Wellington Marathon. The prize alternates annually between male and female winners. In 2018 Sakai's Miyuki Usui won the Senshu prize and then won the Wellington Marathon. Ingrid Cree was the first Wellington woman in 2018 and travels to February's Senshu Marathon.

Provisional results will be posted inside Westpac Stadium on the main concourse opposite Aisle 14, from approx 10:30am.

There are a wide range of age-based categories in every event. But all entrants are also eligible for the Open/Overall awards in their event.
Age categories is set via your age on race day. Type date of birth correctly.
The Half Marathon and 10K events also have the following team categories:
Open Teams, Womens Teams, Corporate Teams, School Teams & Walk Teams.
Teams must consist of four or more entrants.
The first four team members across the line count toward team results via their combined times.
There is no additional charge for entering a team.
If entering a team you must complete the team details on the entry form.
Open Teams can be made up of any individuals.
Women's Teams must be female only.
Corporate Teams must be made up of employees of the same work place.
School Teams must be students and/or teachers from the same school.
Walk Teams must all enter as walkers & must only walk the event.

Merit Prizes categories are as listed alongside the categories in the left hand column. In all cases, there must be five entries in a category for merit prizes to be awarded.
Prize winners receive medals and product. Prize money is also available in the Marathon and Half Marathon (see below).
Teams categories must have four or more entries per team. Team placings are calculated by the combined time of the fastest four team members.
The Kids Magic Mile will also have merit awards for the fastest boy & girl in two year age categories, as per the left hand column. Every Kid's Magic Mile finisher receives a medal and goodie bag.
NB: Merit prizes and medals not collected at the prize giving will be sent out.
Full Marathon Run
In the Full Marathon Run overall placegetters will be awarded prize money as per the following:
Overall Men: 1st - $1000, 2nd - $600, 3rd - $300
Overall Women: 1st - $1000, 2nd - $600, 3rd - $300
In addition to this, a $1000 cash bonus will be awarded if the overall winners break the following Full Marathon course records:
Overall Men: 2hrs 22min 43secs (Dan Lowry, USA, 2017)
Overall Women: 2hrs 48min 36secs (Alice Mason, Cambridge, 2017)
Half Marathon Run
In the Half Marathon Run overall placegetters will be awarded prize money as per the following:
Overall Men: 1st - $1000, 2nd - $600, 3rd - $300
Overall Women: 1st - $1000, 2nd - $600, 3rd - $300
In addition to this, a $1000 cash bonus will be awarded to the overall winners if they break the following Half Marathon course records:
Overall Men: 1hr 06min 24secs (Kip Kemei, Kenya, 2012)
Overall Women: 1hr 17min 40secs (Ruby Muir, Hawke's Bay, 2017)
In 2019 our Full Marathon event also hosts the official Athletics Wellington Marathon Championship.
Only participants registered with an Athletics Wellington club are eligible for these awards. To be eligible you must fill out your club name and ANZ registration number on the entry form, and compete in club uniform.
The Wellington Championship will award medals for 1st, 2nd, 3rd in Open Men, Open Women, Masters Men 40+yrs, Masters Women 40+yrs. These will be presented on stage.
Championship results will be posted on race day, but are provisional.
Vouchers for minor spot prizes will be awarded at random as competitors cross the finish line.
These vouchers can be redeemed for the prize at the Information Booth at Aisle 18 inside Westpac Stadium.

NB: Finishers become eligible for the major spot prizes by placing the tear-off tag on their race number in a box as they enter the prize giving. Names are then drawn at random during the prize giving. To claim a major spot prize, the person must be at the prize giving.
